If you’re a personal trainer, or thinking about becoming one, then you’ve probably come across the need for personal trainer insurance.
Personal trainer insurance is crucial to cover your back and succeed in the fitness industry. But with so many providers out there, it’s hard and overwhelming to choose the right personal trainer insurance for you.
That’s why we’re going to tell you the different types of personal trainer insurance and why you need them.
Remember, if you haven’t gotten started with your personal training qualifications, or are looking to enhance your fitness career, then check out our recognised PT courses.
The simple answer is, yes!
It does not matter whether you’re an online PT freelancing or work for a gym. It’s your legal responsibility to cover your career and the health of your clients. As the saying goes, rather be safe, than sorry!
Anything can happen in fitness training, even if you are a qualified personal trainer.
Here are two main types of PT insurance:
Personal trainers need to have public liability insurance to operate. This will cover you against client injuries whilst in sessions and equipment failure or damage. It will pay out any legal costs and replacement or repairs to equipment.
Take a look at comparethemarket to find the best public liability covers for personal trainers.
Indemnity insurance covers your own back as a personal trainer. This type of insurance protects any claims made against your service, such as advice and guidance that is considered incorrect, clients feeling they’ve not reached goals and wrong nutritional advice from you.
According to Money Supermarket, although professional indemnity insurance is not a legal requirement, it’s essential for PTs as it protects your business from these unforeseen circumstances.
Other types of personal training insurance include personal accident cover, loss of earnings cover, employers liability cover (if you employ anyone under your personal training business) and sports equipment cover.
However, if you’re an online personal trainer, make sure you get a quote from a company that will cover you, as not all will cater for this.
So what are you waiting for? Don’t neglect it, rather get protected!
